Leading the Way in Sustainable Building: Finestral Hosts Ministerial Visit

At Finestral, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s at the heart of everything we do. This commitment was recently recognised during a ministerial visit by Energy Minister Dr Miriam Dalli and Construction Sector Reform Minister Dr Jonathan Attard, who toured our facility to see firsthand how we’re driving energy efficiency in Malta’s built environment.

Sustainability at the Core of Our Operations

During the visit, our directors Kenneth Azzopardi and Jonathan Pace shared how Finestral continues to invest in greener operations. Today, 90% of the energy needed for our daily processes is generated through solar panels installed on our premises. Furthermore, any offcuts from our PVC frame production are recycled, contributing to a circular economy and reducing unnecessary waste.

We’ve also recently upgraded all our factory machinery to energy-efficient models, significantly lowering our energy consumption and carbon footprint.

“Finestral is proud to carry on its mission of offering energy-efficient solutions through our PVC apertures. From our end, we strive to guarantee a fantastic product and level of service,” said Kenneth Azzopardi, Director at Finestral.

Government Support for Energy-Efficient Choices

Our work aligns closely with national efforts to promote sustainable housing and building practices. Through the Regulator for Energy and Water Services (REWS), Maltese homeowners can benefit from grants covering 50% of the cost (up to €1,000) for upgrades like roof insulation and double-glazing. Since 2022, over 781 applications have already been submitted—proof that more households are embracing energy-saving upgrades.

Additionally, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has introduced the “Ixtri Proprjetà Sostenibbli” scheme, offering up to €9,000 over three years to eligible homebuyers purchasing energy-efficient properties. It’s a major step forward in incentivising greener living across Malta.

“It is truly encouraging to witness companies like Finestral leading the way in sustainable construction practices… Finestral’s initiatives exemplify the standards we aspire to achieve,” said Minister Jonathan Attard.

A Shared Vision for a Greener Malta

Both ministers commended our leadership in adopting sustainable practices, highlighting how Finestral’s example demonstrates the critical role the private sector can play in Malta’s energy transition.

“These companies are making significant investments in energy efficiency and are actively reducing waste and enhancing their recycling efforts,” noted Minister Miriam Dalli.

At Finestral, we are proud to be at the forefront of Malta’s sustainable building movement. We remain committed to helping households and developers transition to more energy-efficient solutions—today and for the future.
